Alcohol
and drug use, gambling and gaming behaviours can be harmful to
friends, co-workers, family relationships and communities.
The
combination of use of alcohol and drugs by the gambler enhances
distortions and increases the risk of harm.
It has
been said by an individual, “my
children and the community members noticed I had a problem long before
I did.”
The things
they noticed were:
- I was always
broke
- Never home
- Very
moody when I couldn’t go to bingo or the bar.
Our six-phase
program at Morning Sky Treatment Centre focuses on alcohol and
drug abuse as well as gambling related harm. The use
of alcohol and drugs along with problem gambling doesn’t
only impact the individual; it can also break up relationships,
steal the grocery and power bill money. Our program provides assistance
by providing counseling, education and information regarding healthy
choices.
